Three words shape everything here. Children learn — Grades 1 to 12, through to Cambodia’s national examinations. They serve, in the classroom and in the community around them. And they grow ready to lead. Families in Kampong Speu have trusted us with their children since 2007.
Our aim is simple: raise the standard of education available to children here, and send them out prepared to serve the people around them.
Grades 1 to 6
The foundations: reading, writing, mathematics and the habits of good work. Small beginnings matter, and this is where a child learns how to learn.
Grades 7 to 12
Pupils work towards Cambodia’s national Grade 9 and Grade 12 examinations, with teaching that asks them to think carefully and argue honestly.
Beyond lessons
Student Leaders, Football, Music, Youth Brigade and the Alumni Club — where pupils practise leading, serving and sticking with something difficult.
See the clubsGTIS aims to bless, equip and empower Cambodia’s children with quality education in a nurturing environment, providing a holistic education for academic excellence and development of the whole person based on Christian principles. We are committed to building students to be Servant Leaders, Pillars, and a Strategic People for the nation of Cambodia.
To deliver quality education in a Christian environment, equipping our students spiritually and academically to lead and impact the lives of one another, the people of Cambodia and beyond.
God-centred Thinkers, Intentional learners, nation builders and Servant leaders.
Resilience, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence. The rice grains on our school crest stand for these — and for the rice fields of Cambodia the yellow and green are drawn from.
The school opened in October 2007 with three children and four teachers. This is what happened next, and what comes next.
Pastor Richard Toh sees a plot of land behind a church then being built, and thinks of a school. Building starts the following year: two storeys, four classrooms, an office and a staff room.
Hope International Primary School officially opens in April, run by Glad Tidings Church in Singapore with ICM Singapore. The first children arrive in October: three of them, taught by four teachers, and about thirty by the end of the month.
Enrolment reaches 135 children. The little school is running out of room.
The school acquires 1.7 hectares of land nearby for a new site and for dormitories.
Hope International Primary School becomes Glad Tidings International School. The first Grade 9 pupils sit the national exams and do well.
The school moves into a four-storey building with sixteen classrooms and teaching starts from Grade 10. This is also the year the school lost Pastor Wendy Ng, who gave her life to its work.
The Multipurpose Building opens in July: a canteen with an auditorium above it, joined to the main block by a covered walkway. The first Christmas service is held there in December.
For the first time, GTIS pupils sit Cambodia’s national Grade 12 examinations — children who began here in primary school.
GTIS marks its tenth anniversary teaching Grades 1 to 12, with 498 pupils, 25 full-time teachers and 5 support staff.
COVID-19 brings two problems at once: the school has never taught online, and parents refuse to pay fees. The teachers offer to take pay cuts of thirty to fifty per cent so the school can carry on, and supporters give generously. The school stays open.
A three-storey block is added, with eight classrooms and two science laboratories.
The school’s newest building is completed in May, and will be dedicated on 8 September 2026 — more room for young people to learn, to serve and to lead.
Classrooms, the chapel, the field and the covered walkway where everybody ends up at break.
What has been happening at GTIS — assemblies, sport, exams, camps and school notices.
